Today’s prayer is different from any that we have prayed before. Many times our lives become so wrapped up in others that we forget to pray for ourselves. I don’t mean a prayer for “things”, unless we really “need” them. We today would like for each of us to pray that God will break our hearts for the lost. They are all around us. You can’t turn your head in any direction without seeing them. When Jesus walked this earth His heart was full of compassion for the lost. We think perhaps sometimes, if not most of the time, we get so wrapped up in our own religious activities that we lose our zeal and compassion for the lost.
Heavenly Father, today we pray that you will break our hearts for the lost people all around us. They are people in our families, co-workers, neighbors, merchants, people standing in lines that we speak to. Lord they are everywhere. Make us to see people in this way, that they need to hear and respond to the Gospel. We know we can’t make anyone believe, but they can’t believe unless they’ve heard. We take for granted that all have heard, but even in our country there are millions that have never heard a clear presentation of the salvation that is available through Jesus Christ. Lord open up these opportunities for us to be able to share. Go before us and prepare their hearts and make fertile ground when we plant the seed. Give us boldness not to be ashamed of the Gospel, even if it seems as foolishness to them. May your Spirit give us the words we are to say, even if it is just our own testimonies. Take us and use us to bring others into you kingdom. May we see people as you see them and have compassion on them.
In Jesus name we ask this,
Amen!!
