Today’s prayer was another big one. Joni has been unable to walk for I think 37 years now. She has been a tremendous blessing to many many people as they have witnessed the grace of God upon her life. I personally know of no one else that has lived under such painful and incapacitated conditions for so long that continued to give God all of the glory for it. Have you felt at all convicted today because of your responses to trials and afflictions that are very minute in comparison to Joni’s? Knowing Joni’s ministry in spite of her health, have you felt like maybe you haven’t accomplished very much despite having great health?
Another thought about this prayer is that we must always pray not only for the afflicted person, but also their family and caretaker. In this case, Ken, Joni’s husband, has been there every step of the way. What a wonderful man that he is. Her affliction became his affliction and I think we sometimes forget this.
For those of us unafflicted, we should fall upon our knees and thank God for the blessings of our health. Share your thoughts and comments with us!
