Prayer for our children struggling with drug addiction

Jesus crying

Today’s post is brought to you straight from the holy spirit. So many of us have sons and daughters that struggle with drug addiction. We know that the only one able to help break these strongholds is our all-powerful and mighty savior the Lord Jesus Christ. We have a prayer today that we are asking everyone to pray on behalf of all of our children who struggle with drug addiction. Please post in the comment section a name if you want them specifically prayed over. You can also send us an email at acts12movement@gmail.com and our prayer team will pray over them. Here is our prayer for today. Let’s pray with one voice, in unity, interceding on behalf of our children and breaking every drug addiction in Jesus name. To God be all the glory!

Dear heavenly father,

You are mighty to save. The enemy lurks and he comes only to steal, kill and destroy but we know that you have come to give life and give it abundantly. We come in the mighty and holy name of Jesus and lift every child up to you that is struggling with any kind of drug addiction. We make intercession for them binding the enemy. No child of yours God will be taken. We pray in Jesus name that every stronghold of addiction will be broken in the mighty name of Jesus. Thousands of children, millions will be freed from drug addiction and give glory to you oh God. You are the great healer, the great redeemer, the mighty Physician. You say all things are possible for those who believe and we believe Father. With everything we have, we believe. Set every addict free in the name of Jesus. We lift your name high, the name above all names. You’re the higher power and darkness cannot stand once it sees your face. Shine your face a glory on these children, your children in the might name of Jesus.

In His holy name we pray,

Amen

    Amen. And If I may add…it is difficult to understand the ways of God, and even greater still to accept the things of God. I too have experienced praying for family addicted to drugs and all sorts of other vices, And this will be difficult to believe for some…but here goes. We tend to pray that God will deliver our loved ones and friends from various addictions, but the Lord showed me that sometimes us praying for their healing and deliverance is not so much for them, or about them, but about us.

    You see, we pray for others, we ask things of God, but God says the heart of many people are far from Him. Mat. 15:8, “These people draw near to Me with their mouth, and honor Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me.”

    Often times the trials of others, especially our loved ones are more for our sake. We know and believe that God is the only true One that can pull anyone out of the pits of hell. And God is asking of us to trust Him completely, to be still, Psalm 46:10 “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations,I will be exalted in the earth!”

    To Isaiah 29: “Pause and wonder! Blind yourselves and be blind! They are drunk, but not with wine;
    They stagger, but not with intoxicating drink. For the Lord has poured out on you the spirit of deep sleep,
    And has closed your eyes, namely, the prophets; and He has covered your heads, namely, the seers.
    The whole vision has become to you like the words of a book that is sealed, which men deliver to one who is literate, saying, “Read this, please.”

    And he says, “I cannot, for it is sealed.”

    Then the book is delivered to one who is illiterate, saying, “Read this, please.” And he says, “I am not literate.” Therefore the Lord said:

    “Inasmuch as these people draw near with their mouths and honor Me with their lips, but have removed their hearts far from Me, and their fear toward Me is taught by the commandment of men, Therefore, behold, I will again do a marvelous work among this people, a marvelous work and a wonder; for the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hidden.”
    Woe to those who seek deep to hide their counsel far from the Lord, and their works are in the dark;
    They say, “Who sees us?” and, “Who knows us?” Surely you have things turned around! Shall the potter be esteemed as the clay; For shall the thing made say of him who made it, “He did not make me”?
    Or shall the thing formed say of him who formed it, “He has no understanding”?

    James 5:16 “Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.”

    God wants our heart!

    John 9:31
    We know that God does not listen to sinners. He listens to the godly person who does his will.

    Acts 8:24
    Then Simon answered, “Pray to the Lord for me so that nothing you have said may happen to me.”
    If our heart is right with God, God will hear our prayers.

    In our trials and tribulations, or those of others…the Lord is teaching us, He is working on our heart, because He wants our heart. As much as we help our young rebellious children, and strive to teach them how to be “good” kids, so God works with us to be the children that He needs us to be.

    It is difficult for people to understand that our heart must be right when we approach the throne of grace. We approach it with confession in our heart, we seek forgiveness for our shortcomings and ask for grace to accept His forgiveness. If we are right before God, God will do the rest.

    I know that God hears my prayers. And every time a prayer is answered… I am just amazed and humbled that the living God hears me when I call…and in any given situation I know that God works all things for His good…all to the glory of God. Because even if He does not change my situation, He changes my heart to see the situation through His eyes…it’s all about grace and He gives it in abundance when we most need it…and I need it all the time.

    What an awesome God I serve. In the name of Jesus, John 6:39 -40 “For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me. “This is the will of Him who sent Me, that of all that He has given Me I lose nothing, but raise it up on the last day. “For this is the will of My Father, that everyone who beholds the Son and believes in Him will have eternal life, and I Myself will raise him up on the last day.”…

    Jeremiah 23:4
    I will place shepherds over them who will tend them, and they will no longer be afraid or terrified, nor will any be missing,” declares the LORD..

    Even as the prodigal son came back to his Father, so will our children bound up in the addictions of this world return to their Father. God knows the heart of every man.
    Be blessed.

  3. Another on the money remark. When we are dealing with any difficulty in life with family, friends, or loved ones The Lord is also teaching us through it. There is as much for us to learn from Him as the person with the problem. Drugs are such a serious problem. We are praying that the addicted will be freed form the drugs and turn to Jesus, and for the loved ones to be ministered to by the Spirit and receive Wisdom in handling it. He is our sufficiency!! Thanks again. Lord bless you!

  4. Thank you for posting this. It is dear to my heart. There are some in my family that are addicted to drugs. I have friends whose children have been, or on drugs. One’s child is dead because of them. It is truly a national and world problem. The heartache and turmoil that it causes is beyond imagination. I stand bold with you today in this prayer. Oh God, deliver our children from the evils of drugs by your Spirit is my prayer!

    • Yes and Amen. We all need God and we all need each other to lift our voices in prayer and intercede for these children. It is truly heartbreaking and our prayer is to change the face of drug addiction in Jesus name from addicted to drugs to addicted to Jesus. May the Lord bless you richly.

    For those who are struggling with children and/or family members with alcohol and/or drug addiction, I highly recommend by order listed ( if you have one in your area) Nar-onon Group, Families Anonymous, or Al-Anon. These are very good support groups. This is what I would call “carrying one another’s burdens” and it is completely confidential. These are people who really know what you are going through. As long as you are not looking for answers from the group but mainly support. They say to give it 6 weeks to see if it is for you. And if it is not, I would try one of the others listed. Actually you could do all three just like some alcoholics do to help them get through. We can become isolated and just as sick as our loved ones without #1 Jesus, but also support from others experiencing what we do. I love the comment to pray that those who are addicted become addicted to Jesus!
